Keyless Entry System

Keyless entry systems are a great way to secure your rental property without needing to use physical keys. These systems allow tenants and guests to enter the building with an entry code, or using their smartphones. These systems can be combined with intercoms that allow video and audio communication. This gives people a variety of ways to enter a building. Some keyless entry systems run on cloud which allows them to be managed remotely and to offer more advanced features.

Keyless entry systems can be installed in any commercial or residential property. The hardware must be installed at each entry point. Next, the system needs to be configured and managed via a central console or through a smartphone application. Keyless entry systems in the global market is expected to expand at a CAGR of 11.8% between 2016 and 2022, according to Technavio. The market's growth can be attributed to the growing need for security in commercial vehicles.

Many people fear being locked out of their home, so they keep spare keys in a secure location. This poses a significant security risk since criminals know where they keep their spare keys and can easily locate them. To avoid this happening, you should have an entry system with a keyless lock installed at your home. This will ensure that you don't find yourself locked out.

Transponder Chip

The transponder chip - also known as "chip key" is an electronic micro-chip built into the head of your car key. It's also one of the most crucial security features of your vehicle. The word "transponder" originates from the combination of responder and transmitter that is why, once the key is inserted into the ignition and turned, the antenna ring on your car sends a blast of radio frequency energy to the transponder chip. The chip responds by sending its unique identification code back to the antenna ring. The car's computer then deciphers this information and determines whether it's a valid or not.

The key must be a transponder one to start the car. If it's not, the vehicle will remain immobilized. The chip is protected with an extra layer of polycarbonate that stops it from being copied or cloned using regular mechanical keys. Beishir Lock and Security offers the largest selection of transponder keys at a fraction of the price of car dealers.

Transponder chips first started to gain popularity in the 1980's when GM introduced them in the Corvette.  copy  reduced vehicle thefts because hot-wiring became obsolete. This is a brief explanation of how a chip key functions and should you have any queries you can contact us.

Immobiliser System

The engine immobiliser system (also called the anti-theft) is a crucial aspect of your car's security. When you insert your key into the ignition switch or Smart Key fob, the transponder chip inside sends an encoded code to the vehicle's Electronic Control Unit (ECU). The ECU examines whether the code sent from the chip matches the one stored in it prior to permitting the engine to begin.

This is the main way that your car's immobiliser prevents theft. If the chip's code is not compatible the ECU will stop the flow of current from the fuel pump relay to the injection system, and stop the engine from beginning. Additionally the immobiliser can disable the starter motor or the ignition coil to stop the engine from starting by force.

Unfortunately, this system is not completely secure. Thieves are able to crack the code that unlocks the immobiliser in your car and make it start. However, the most recent versions of these systems come with a an extended cryptographic sequence which is more difficult to deduce.

Immobilisers for cars are mandatory from 1998, but a lot of cars had rudimentary immobiliser systems fitted prior to that. It's important to note that although an immobiliser system makes it harder to steal a car, it doesn't prevent thieves from towing away or breaking into the car to get at your possessions.

Key Replacement

Losing a remote, key or fob is costly and can be a hassle. A locksmith would need to gain access into the vehicle and decode or read the VIN and then reprogramme the new replacement to wipe out any old signatures on the computer for all keys that were lost, stolen or damaged.

A key replacement will be more expensive if you own a car that is equipped with a transponder and/or integrated security chip. The chips transmit an alert to your car to verify that you are the driver and allow the doors to be opened and the engine started. The typical price for the replacement of a smart key is about $160.

ABUS strongly recommends registering your key code shortly after purchase to allow you to easily purchase additional keys or spare keys in the future. This can be done by entering your Key Code on the checkout page and selecting CANADA as your shipping country. You can also register keys based on images of your spare keys taken at certain angles.
